Entire interior house painting job (excluding ceilings). 3 Bedroom / 2 Bath, Kitchen, Dining Room, Family Room, Living Room and Utility Room. Nothing really out of the ordinary, single level, no unusual architecture. I got estimates from professional painting companies, both small and large and individual "painters for hire". What surprised me was the huge range of estimates. $2,800 on the low end to $10,500!! on the high end. Finally went with a small family company at $4,500, (the lower bids seemed a little disorganized and unprofessional). The company I went with may not have been the lowest bid, but they seemed to know their stuff, spending over two hours doing color matching and comparisons just for the estimate. I couldn't be happier with the result, all their suggestion's were spot on, the house looks amazing!
It’ll cost anywhere from $200 to $6,000 to hire a painter. Expect small jobs, like kitchen cabinets or trim, to run $200 to $2,000. Larger projects, like your home’s exterior, range from $1,000 to $6,000. To estimate your needs, figure paying $2 to $6 per square foot or $20 to $50 per hour. Actual costs vary considerably depending on coverage area, type of work and regional cost of living differences.
"A superb paint job for my family room and kitchen area. It's like I have a new home. I was so sick of the dull colors I had on the walls for several years. What a wonderful experience to see how new my 15 year old home has a wonderful, bright, clean look. Then, the next job was countertops of granite in my out-of-date kitchen. Wow! It is a brand new kitchen - everything I ever wanted. M. Guerrero and his employees did a masterpiece of a job on my new, beautiful countertops. I am extremely happy with the work. These men are absolute experts in their field. I will be calling on them, again, in the future."
Hired a pro to paint interior and exterior of my house. It was new construction. Outside is approx. 50% board and batten, also had cedar beams inside and out on porches. Outside was 3000 and inside was 8000. this included prime and paint all base, doors, closets and cabinets. All paint and stain was Sherwin Williams, high quality stuff. I highly recommend getting pros you dont have to bird dog and punch over and over! May cost a little more initially, but you'll be alot happier with the results!!
Tipping house painters is good etiquette. You can base the tip on the size of the crew, and request the amount to be evenly divided. Or, you can leave a tip based on the size of the job and leave it up to the foreman to decide how it is distributed among the crew. Sometimes — especially with big projects — the painters on the job change during the course of the project, so it’s often customary to leave one tip for the whole job.

"I had Sam and his team come in to repaint our kitchen cabinets that were originally a dark wood stain. He cleaned, sanded, primed, and put on 2 coats of sheer white on both the doors and frames of the cabinet and they came out great. The kitchen is much brighter and even up close it is hard to tell that the original cabinets were not white. They were prompt and very communicative over the phone. We may soon hire them back to paint the kitchen next."
