It’ll cost anywhere from $200 to $6,000 to hire a painter. Expect small jobs, like kitchen cabinets or trim, to run $200 to $2,000. Larger projects, like your home’s exterior, range from $1,000 to $6,000. To estimate your needs, figure paying $2 to $6 per square foot or $20 to $50 per hour. Actual costs vary considerably depending on coverage area, type of work and regional cost of living differences.
"Very happy to have hired Larry to repaint a bedroom in our house. He gave an honest and upfront quote based on the work needed, and he was eager to get started. He was very communicative throughout the entire process and always arrived on time. He's got a super positive attitude and should we have another project, we'll definitely be sure to call Larry! "

I have no workman's comp or liability insuerance, so I charge a little less than the going rate (but not too much less). I an limited to working weekends and nights because of my day job. But otherwise, I try to be very flexible with all my customers. I also explain everything that I can to them about the process, and why certain steps should be taken.

I paint in Canada and prices are like that of the State Side. I I I take pride in my work and charge reasonable rates ($1.00 sq.ft.) for an average home interior and price changes a little as heights of walls change, but there are those who so undercut those prices like .30 sq. ft. and that includes paint and we can't compete with those prices. I can compete if I don't prep walls, use the cheapest paint on the market that looks good at first, 2 thin coats no primer but after 1year it looses it's luster and durability, I don't move any furniture, and concern myself with quanity not quality. I understand people are looking for bargains because money is a little tighter but people need to understand we need to be also wise in who we get. Wisdom shop around, don't just go for cheap prices, check these people out, ask what services include. 30% of my business is redo cheap painters work. Advice if you don't want to pay, try painting yourself you might find it fun. Hope this helped. Thanks

I am a Handyman and I do pretty much all types of fixing, including painting. On this month I had a lady called me for a bid. 19 interior doors with cases included both sides, one exterior door (just one side) and, about 400 sqf of baseboard. My bid was for 1000.00 custumer will buy the paint. My question is, was I too expensive or way cheap?. Considering that she lives in that house and I have to cover up all the things she has in it. Plus I will use my sprayless. Thank you for your help folks#!

Hired a paint contractor w/good recommendations, this room was 12x12 tops. Caulking, sanding and caulking 2 window sills, painted ceilings and walls 1 coat but 2 different colors, plain 1/4" x3" baseboards & 4 doors oil-based trim, w/2 doors only 1 side. We provided paint at $180, he ended up hiring day laborers & had to redo. Took 14 days, looks good now but need to paint more and I'm scared b/c we had a contract & he tried to extort more very very threatening & I have to now work by sq. ft. in other areas, don't want to be nickel & dimmed for every time repair (he charged $50 because our dog's nose touched a wet wall but they let him in)! Any ideas from others in my area? Actually done in 2014, doesn't allow for it.
Some service pros are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, you may be matched with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate service professionals. The above screening process is not applicable to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate service professionals.
5383 actual square footage of walls. Do not estimate or accept estimates based on square footage of floor. I use a laser device to ACCURATELY measure. I take out for windows and doors. Unless a job is new construction (empty), understand that furniture, artwork, carpet, appliances, etc. will affect time and labor. Also understand that ceiling height is a game changer. A rate of no less than $1.80/sf including materials is realistic, acceptable and more than fair for a qualified professional to paint rooms with 9' ceilings. Expect to pay $1 extra per square foot for 9'- 15' and $2.50 extra for 15' +. Some additional costs for extreme conditions will raise that amount. Trying to base the amount on days worked by number of workers is both unfair to the professional and undue to your senses. This job is based on 15 days work by two workers, one painter and one grunt to tarp, move furniture, clean up and book paint. That nets to approx $663/day. As you can see, not great wages.
HomeAdvisor uses an extensive screening process to screen businesses and business owners/principals. We perform this screening when a business applies to join our network and, if the business is accepted, once again every two years following — or whenever concerns are brought to our attention. If you have concerns that a pro in our network doesn't meet these standards, please contact us so we can investigate. We're committed to maintaining a network of trusted home service businesses, and those who don't meet our criteria will be rejected or promptly removed from our network.
"William and the entire Edge team were such a pleasure to work with. It was a joy to find craftsman who take their work seriously, listen to the homeowner, give fair prices, and leave your home better than they found it. I recommend William and the edge team without hesitation. They repaired all of the damaged wood around my homeâ s exterior and sanded and painted potion clean upAfter themselves immaculately. I cannot recommend Edge strongly enough and without hesitation, I would hire them again."

Wesley and Robeson were very professional to work with. They did such a great job repairing our deck and painting. We consider them to be "our" contractors, and have found additional jobs for them to do. My dad and brother are contractors, and I know the quality and service to expect. A and W Construction set the new bar for craftsmanship, quality of work, professionalism as far as we're concerned. Such hospitable, polite people.

"A superb paint job for my family room and kitchen area. It's like I have a new home. I was so sick of the dull colors I had on the walls for several years. What a wonderful experience to see how new my 15 year old home has a wonderful, bright, clean look. Then, the next job was countertops of granite in my out-of-date kitchen. Wow! It is a brand new kitchen - everything I ever wanted. M. Guerrero and his employees did a masterpiece of a job on my new, beautiful countertops. I am extremely happy with the work. These men are absolute experts in their field. I will be calling on them, again, in the future."
I have been painting for 7 summers as a side job with a school district. I have been asked to paint a friend's house and I don't want to over charge but it will be a lot of work. She is paying for all of the paint and supplies-----5 average sized rooms plus ceilings, ceilings in 3 additional small rooms, and all window and door frames. I need some advice!!!
If you're thinking about selling your home, you might want to repaint areas that look especially worn, dull or chipped so your house looks fresh and new to potential buyers. On the other hand, it’s possible some potential buyers will repaint the home upon moving in. So if you have a limited budget, your money (and time) might be better invested in other types of home projects, such as remodeling your bathroom or kitchen, installing new floors or fixing broken appliances.
